One of the foremost function of the editorial team of any media(newspaper, radio, newschannels, web)is to decide which stories to be taken up.Close to this comes the second function of determining which angles of the story to be looked upon and which angles to be downplayed.Objectivity is an integral part of all news.Well i dont believe this for most often it is a purely assumptive view of a story and not the most objective one which does the rounds. The test of objectivity starts right from the selection of the news.Broadly speaking there are two categories newschannels fall into.
a)news channels which oversensationalize the news
b)news channels which sensationalize the news
The category b0 channels do everything category b)channels do though not in the same on-your-face,loud and flashy way.a)category is huge i.e. most of the channels fall into this category. These channels are cashing onto the fear perception in us.One of the top most national newschannel ran the story of American Ghosts.By the way does anyone know the difference between the Indian ghosts and the American ones? The bottomline is that the kind of stories media picks up explains its character, work ethos and so on.
The Media
Though the media enjoys no special privilege as defined in our constitution. It enjoys the right to freedom of speech and expression just like you and I do.Yet media has the power and capability of shaping people’s perception. So media ought to behave properly.
Media Bias
With every passing report media bias comes to the surface though everytime in a different form. The latest in the Aarushi Murder Case smells of class bias in the media. The Aarushi murder Case ior the Masala Murder Case(This is how the case has been reported in the media)hasCBI floating one contradictory story after the other. This time the theory says that It was Krishna(componder of Dr.talwar) along with Rajkumar(domestic help of the Durranis)and Vijay mandal who killed Aarushi and Hemraj.Apparently Krishna was miffed over Dr.Talwar scolding him in public once. The turn of events in the case are unbelievable this time too.The theory says that the alleged killers had visited Hemraj. The four men drank together.Krishna talked about Aarushi with Rajkumar and Vijay Mandal. The threee men entered into Aarushi’s room and tried to molest her. They hit on her head with a blunt object which made her unconscious. After this they took hemraj to the terrace and killed him as he opposed to the three molesting Aarushi. Then the three men came back to Aarushi’s room to slit her throat. Now the question is being the most prized investigation agency in our country one expects CBI to know a few things.Firstly it is not a competition of how many stories can one float about a particular case that CBI has participated in then why is the CBI treating it as one.Secondly, the court does not rely on assumptive theorie but concrete evidences.in other words the theory doesnt have an iota of truth in it if the CBI fails to substantiate its claims. Why is the CBI ignorant to this so far?
Discrepencies in CBI’s theory-While dr.Talwar was put under the Narco Analysic and the lie Detector tests, the CBI was busy explaining the limited utility of these tests but when the same tests were conducted on Krishna, the CBI said that the tests have always been of great help.Same tests but different appreciation. Is it because on one hand we have Dr.Talwar,a noted dentist on the other hand is his unknown compounder Krishna.
-Krishna had complained of alleged torture by CBI during his remand period. The CBI magistrate paid no heeds to it.Why ?
-Even if the three alleged killers have confessed of the crime then what is it which is keeping CBI away from the weapon of offence?
-The theory says even when the three accused molested Aarushi there was no opposition from her side. This can be very tricky to explain in the court. How will the CBI perform this herculean task?
-What about the Tshirt of Rajkumar, according to the CBI it has blood of atleast two peope on it.What has the forensic report revealed?
Media’s role in the case
Media’s role in the case has been restricted to covering the case as it is.
-When the UP Police said that it was Dr.Talwar who committed the crime as he found Aarushi and Hemraj in an objectionable position(read:sex).Media carried the reports with fervour.Consideration is fairly simple,a 14 yr old city born,DPS girl having it a domestic help almost triple her age makes a good story.Half of the credit for the character assassination of the dead girl shold be give to media for it acted like an ally to the UP police in this.
-Some of the newschannels went a step further and said that Aarushi and her father did not a normal daughter father relationship. However despicable it was, media carried such reports.Media’s attitude probably was guided by one fact- something other than the status quo(read:extraordinary) is news.
There has been no discretion that media exercised in the case. Now instead of pointing out the loopholes in the CBI theory the whole media is busy carrying reports:CBI claims it has finally cracked the case.
To have a free media is one thing,to have a fair media is quite other.

I have been bored of listening to the never ending debate and speculation about the Indo US nuke deal.Personally i have left it to the almighty to decide if such a deal will happen or not.We are an amazing country and nobody will disagree with me in this but hey wait i ll tell you something else too which we all will agree with. The politics in our country is amazing and can give any prime time K soap a run for its money because the drama just goes on and on.Dont you i think i should add an extra ‘on’.This political drama over the nuke deal has engrossed me,believe me i have been going through a myriad of emotions all thanks to our political parties changing stance on the nuclear deal.So lets start with Congress because all credit goes to the Congress for it spearheaded this deal or no deal. The Congress is incompetent, indecisive and the whole speculation over the deal started because of its nonsense attitude about the deal.Until recently the whole party was not in support of the PM’s urgent call to finish the deal.Hmm well i think he was a bit too late in letting the urgency attached to the nuclear deal seep through him.But now that he has finally woken up my criticism should have a full stop too.Talking about Behenji gives me immense pleasure for it is seldom that we see a leader pitting a state against the national interests.Deal or no deal what Behenji want is that a future alliance of SP and Congress dare not get a share of muslim votes in UP.To ensure this she has gone on record saying the nuke deal is anti muslim.I could have given her full points for this masterstroke had it not been the Left who first came up with the idea.Kudos to the Left front for coming up with such brilliant imagination.Well the left had no choice but to invent this absurd preposition because with Congress touting the deal as being of paramount national interest it had to present some explanation for its decision of withdrawing support from the government.According to the left the deal is pro America. The left is a pro at diplomacy. For the simple reason that the deal would place India at a level somewhere near China in terms of nuclear capabilities, the left has to oppose the deal but for survival it has termed its loyality towards China as Anti Americanism.
I have often read articles about the alienation of muslims in our country and wondered if something like this actually exists.First it was SP,then left and now BSP along with a handful of muslim clerics who have propagated the whole anti muslim theory about the deal.Muslim voice is nowhere to be heard instead we have too many self proclaimed spokespersons speaking on behalf of the country few of them care to know.Playing the religion card is not new in our country but what happens i the process is an increasing hostility towards hindus and muslims.Muslims are as much a part of this country as any other community but muslim vote counts much more is the general perception in all the parties.
It is ironical that while it is in our country that we have parties officially known as secular parties and a few others which are communal. The whole politics since ages thrive on this secular Vs communal divide. Now this is how secularism has been defined in Wikipedia:
In one sense, secularism may assert the right to be free from religious rule and teachings, and freedom from the government imposition of religion upon the people, within a state that is neutral on matters of belief, and gives no state privileges or subsidies to religions. In another sense, it refers to a belief that human activities and decisions, especially political ones, should be based on evidence and fact rather than religious influence.
But the definition are politicians have of secular is :’anything and everything which is pro muslim is secular’.
It is widely known that Mulayam Singh alias SP was opposed to the nuke deal, the reason was simple it was Congress’ call and so there was no way SP could agree to it.The political compulsions rather than a counter measurement of pros n cons of the deal justified SP’s new found love for the nuke deal. The justification for the deal was funny. He got the missile man to endorse the nuclear deal. But then what else can you expect from him but his innocence is charming. No one can expect him to understand the ins and outs of the deal including himself and so he got Dr.Kalam’s approval for the deal as his own.
We must understand that each party seeks to fulfill its own vested interest no matter whether it opposes the deal or supports it.Now the onus lies on us to be intelligent enough to survive the manipulative attempts by various parties.Remember we the people form the foundation of democracy. It is important for us to exercise our mind and decide what is good for us.We are the nation.

Hmm...reality is a strange thing. It is subjective, has too many sides to it and thus is different for everyone. My version of reality may or may not match with yours. It all depends on how do you interpret the reality,no matter what incident, the interpretations tend to be different. The various reality shows running on TV show us a certain reality. They tell us that reality shows is a wonderful platform for middle class people who want to be rich and famous.Unfortunately we tend to believe it,not just this but we take it to be the truth in its entirety. In the process we tend to overlook the other side of the reality. It is only when we have seen a certain Shinjini a reality show participant from Kolkata that we have bothered to look at the not so beautiful side of reality.Who is Shinjini and what has happened to her,now these questions seem to be intriguing to a lot of people like us.
Shinjini is into depression, she has become paralysed, she has succumbed to the not so pleasant remarks from the judges of the reality show she participited in.It is not about one Shinjini it is about the thousands of people who fall prey to the lures of reality shows. It is often said, success has no shortcuts but most of these shows thrive on this very point.Ruthless competition, merciless and often incompetent judges, not every child is adept at handling all this.A young age is meant for fulfilling your dreams, making every effort to turn your dreams into a reality but this cost appears to be a bit too much.
In what appeared crazy as first to be,Women and child welfare minister Mrs.Renuka Chaudhary’s remark ‘Children participating in reality shows is a form of child labour’ has now become an eye opener. As for the parents who make their children carry the burden of theior expectations reality shows appeared like the easy way out.It is often the case that the not so just aspirations of the parents make the children vulnerable to fear. The fear of what if i fail make the children weak so much so that they start hating the whole notion of failure. They fail to acknowledge that like everything else failure is a part of life too.Parents have to be careful of the legacy they give to their children. They must take proper care when they make their children understand what life is.We must see reality in full proportins, not getting biased in any wich way.
When reality hurts,it shows it’s yet another face.

If you go by the almost dead Indo US Civilian Nuclear Cooperation agreement’s name, the nuke deal sounds very easy but if you think it is easy you cannot be further from the truth. As soon as the name ends, simplicity ends and complexity sets in.Requirements for the operationalization of the nuke deal include
- Negotiations with the IAEA for an India specific fuel supply agreement
-An agreement with the Nuclear suppliers group
-US Congress vote on the agreement
There is no need to look too far to know why the deal has been endlessly debated and yet it is dead. The left’s opposition to the deal is widely known but let’s look at the reasons various parties have against this deal.
I have to start with left as it is the main opposing force to the deal. The often cited reasons not withstanding the left parties have a particular fondness for everything chinese so much so that while they keep mum about chinese incursions into Indian territory(Sikkim,Ladakh,Uttaranchal),they are quick to term the deal as compromising for Indian sovereignty.I wonder when on one hand they proudly call themselves anti american, anti imperialism how can they be all for Chinese communist hegemony?
Now we come to the BJP which is the official opposition party in the parliament. The BJP’s stand is clear for unlike left it is not ideologically opposed to the deal but it sees the ban on nuclear tests unacceptable. The party is opposed to the deal in its present form. What BJP is interested is not the deal but the failure of this deal for this will be its main agenda against the Congress in the upcoming assembly polls. The party has been busy scoring political mileage out of the Congress-Left fall out.
BSP has shown way to left that the withdrawal threat can be real too.Given that behenji has no soft corner for Congress BSP’s withdrawal came as no surprise. Its a political master stroke by Mayawati because the timing is just so perfect.
While the SP was busy hogging the limelight keeping the cards close to its chest the Left chose to be its voluntary spokesperson. Now Left has told SP that if it supports the Congress it will have to do away with its minority votebank.
RJD,LJP,DMK,NCP,no i have not combined these parties into one group as if they dont matter much but this unlikely combination has arisen in view of their similar stance.Deal or no deal they just want to cling to the power. These parties are part of the compromise formula being worked upon by the Congress to avoid early elections.
What can happen now is a complex theory of permutations and combinations. The mathematics of politics is interesting. The most interesting would be the coming together of the left and the communal BJP(This is the name left has bestowed on it)to keep Congress out of power.SP still holds the key for it can help Congress reach the magical number of 271 if such a need arises.
My question is that when the 123 agreement has proven to be such a tough nut to crack for the honourable PM why do we call it 123? 123 sounds very easy, isnt it?

An old adage ‘prevention is better than cure’ hasn’t lost its utility infact it has acquired a whole new meaning when attached to the PM’s proposal of setting up a federal agency to combat terrorism. We don’t need a US Department’s annual reports to know that India is the worst affected country due to terrorism for we already now that. After attacks in Hyderabad, Banglore, Lucknow and now Jaipur, the terror map has extended to the whole of India. We have been unable to draw up an exhaustive list of terror outfits precisely because after each terror attack a new name comes up. After the Jaipur blasts a group called Indian Mujahideen took its responsibility, this name was previously unheard of. The name was intelligently chosen to camouflage its foreign links. Also the term ’sleeper cell’ has made its way to the intelligence reports. While the term may be new, India has a history of terrorist attacks.

We don’t need to go too far to know as to why have we failed to combat terrorism, for reasons are homemade. Here i have drawn up a list of reasons known to all of us:

-Lack of political will

-Poor policing

-Lack of a robust intelligence gathering system

-Absolute lack of coordination between the centre and the states

-Communal forces

-Lack of fast track and special courts to try accused in such cases

-An ever growing number of fundamentalists

An elaboration of the first reason is very easy. Lack of political will can be assessed by the fact that even on an issue which demands the coming together of the centre and opposition: we see a Federal agency Vs POTA debate. Why can’t the UPA and opposition sit and weigh the pros and cons of each other’s policies and seek a common solution of the matter? Simply because our national parties are busy listing the problems instead of finding solutions to them. All that they are interested in is scoring brownie points over each other even at the expense of national security.

As for the police it is busy raping women, drinking, creating scene on roads. Leave aside a few decent cops but including those the police is ill equipped in dealing with terrorism cases. Lack of funds(read:corruption), lack of means to gather intelligence signals leaves them handicapped in such situations.

There is no coordination between the centre and the states. The equation is somewhat different in case the party in centre forms the state government other wise the case is even more worse. There is little intelligence sharing between the centre and the states. While it is a known fact that we need a close coordination between the two. The reason is simple for the states have better access to information about the local sleeper cells and government has better means to tackle this.

The growing number of extremists in the country ensure lessons on hatred for the other communities have been taught to the young. Being vulnerable makes them easy target. These extremists misinterpret ‘Quran’ and this misreading fuels terrorism.

We need a federal agency on the lines of FBI, US. The main task of the central government has to build consensus on this matter. While the task is tough it is not impossible

Agreed that law and order is a state subject, national security is and ought to be everyone’s subject!

Nothing but the word “irony” seems to be the right word for Afzal Guru’s statement “I wish LK Advani becomes India’s next PM as he is the only one who can take a decision and hang me. His statement has come as a fully blown up slap on Congress’ face. Rightly so, for the party deserves it given its dragging-its-feet attitude over Guru’s hanging. For me, it is a grim reminder of the extent that our national parties can go to appease the minority. Thus we see Congress oh-what-can-we-do-about it tendency in defining the fate of an indigenous terrorist even when it has costed us an attack on the parliament.

Afzal Guru seems to be telling the Congress Hang me if you can; while talking to a news agency from the Tihar Jail. It is after a long time (read:3years) since one has heard of Afzal. The turn of events in this case have been ironic. Afzal was convicted by the court in 2004, the year UPA came into power at the centre and so the party saw little sense in rubbing minorities the wrong way. Afzal was put into the jail till Congress caught up into the Govt. business. As of now almost everything seems to be against the Congress. Amidst the inflation debate, the almost dead nuke deal his statement has added to the party’s woes.

Without getting into the big debate as to whether or not capital punishment plays a role in lessening the criminal tendency in people, i want Afzal to be hanged. For me it seems right. Why right? Because i think that not only the punishment would be logical but also it will send the correct signal to those who kill innocent people in the name of ‘Jehad’ and ‘Qatal’(read:the new term in terroism lingo). And for all those joining not-all-muslims-are-terrorists groups on social networking sites, i have just one thing to say: while its true that an entire community cannot to be blamed for the ill doings of a few individuals. At the same time i want to underline the obvious fact that majority of the terrorists are Muslims. For all those who resent over why Muslims are viewed as terrorists, they must know that people who feel so have some logic if not sound logic guiding them in such perception.

Also its high time for our Home Minister to take some cue from Afzal’s statement the next time he draws similarities between Afzal and Sarabjit. Afzal said he sympathizes with Sarabjit, adding that any comparion between himself and Sarabjit are uncalled for. So the bottom line is that a convict himself has said that please hang me for he doesn’t want to be among what he termed as ‘living dead’. Anyone listening? So while my sympathies are with Congress for its inability to decide anything about everything, at the same time i condemn it for the vote-bank politics which is the defining factor of its politics. So the next time Rahul Gandhi eats with a dalit family you know the reason for it. Congress’ strategies are too simple, on your face but stupid.

May be firing the strategists would help, may be ...

I never found Mr.Shivraj Patil to be a character worthy of my scrutiny. He is so very non existent with his nothing-to-write home-about tenure as the country’s home minister. This time he has found his way to my blog. Thus, I ask in what light should his “Afjal and Sarabjit cases are too similar” remark be seen? The answer is a child’s guess. I wish if I could get into his psyche when he uttered such rubbish.

Mr. Patil has drawn parallels between Afzal Guru, an Indian citizen who masterminded the 2001 Parliamentary attack and Sarabjit Singh, an Indian incarcerated in a Pakistani jail. Add to this the carefully crafted law-will-take-appropriate-stand on Afzal Guru. But his craft of shielding Afzal is poorly crafted, for one can see the signal this ironical comparison is sending to the Pakistan sponsored militants. Yes-you-can-get-away is what Mr.Patil seems to be telling the terrorists.

But one fails to see where the congress actually stands on the Sarabjit Case. On the one hand Mr.Pranab Mukherjee who is in Pakistan talked of discussing Sarabjit Case whose clemency petition is pending before a Pakistani court on humanitarian grounds, on the other hand we have Mr.Patil’s poor comparison of Sarabjit and Afzal.

The remark must also be seen in the context of what importance our politicians attach to the judiciary’s decisions. It must be recollected that in the case of Afzal Guru the Supreme court deemed it fit for him to be sent to the gallows. Mr.Patil’s remark is anything but respectful of the court’s decision.

The Congress dragging-its-feet attitude on Afzal’s hanging clearly is representative of the fact that the congress is trying to shield Afzal Guru by comparing it to the emotive case of Sarabjit. It has all the reasons to do so, its logic might have been derived from the given facts. Firstly at the time of parliament attack in 2001 BJP was in the power and this reason is enough for the Congress to take a why-should-we-do-something-about-it approach. This unfortunately is very narrow view, for the petty rivalry between the two parties cannot overrule the parliament attack, for an attack on parliament is in effect an attack on the Indian Democracy. Imagine what this attack would have done to the faith of millions of Indians when one gets to see that the highest legislative body can be attacked by the terrorists at their will. Secondly when Mr.Patil says a particular community cannot be attacked for every attack on the country, he is appeasing the minority. For this means more votes and the power hungry congress knows how crucial it is to have the minority votes.

I feel sorry for Mr.Patil for expressing such views and thus drawing flak from almost everyone in the country. Mr.Patil is just the face behind the message, he is expressing his party’s views on the matter. In other words he did nothing but his job. Unfortunately he has gone blind doing his job, for he cannot see the difference between Afzal - a terrorist and Sarabjit - a victim of mistaken identity. What Mr.Patil and Congress have failed is that while taking a stand on Afzal’s case they missed on a very crucil point. Here is the point, that the Indians are neither blind nor dumb and this translates to the fact that people can clearly see through the Congress’ poor strategy. Firstly it was an unexplained delay in Afzal’s hanging, this time it is yet other pretext for the same.

Our honorable Chief Justice is never out of news. First it was his infamous remark “CJI is not a public servant but a constitutional authority and thus out of RTI’s purview”, this time around he has vacated Calcutta HC’s stay on PG Quota. His judgment of the same case made for an interesting read.

Justice Balakrishnan who headed the Constitution bench on the OBC quota matter, said earlier matriculation was the benchmark was the benchmark for determining the SEBCs (Socially and economically bacward class) which has now gone up to graduation. Now the point is that even if one concedes to the reservation policy as a means of upliftment of the people who have had a history of being denied equal status and growth opportunities in our society, one cannot close his eyes to the almost no result of the reservation policy. A superficial view may take you look at a handful of people belonging to these classes drawing benefits from such a scheme but the ground reality is that those who need such policy the most have little knowledge of it, keep apart the benefit they would derive out of it. So what the CJ said, in effect translates to the fact that instead of a positive effect of the policy it has made the matter worse. In simple terms,People who needed the reservation till the level of graduation now need the benefit at the postgraduate level too. Not just there is reservation for them in the field of education alone they avail of the same privilege in jobs, promotion. In such a situation one tends to see reservation more as a problem and less as a solution. For the justice meted out the backward classes is an injustice for the other people. This i guess is a grave problem for it will turn out to be a vicious circle with no end.

I am strictly against caste based reservations and i have some logic in support of my firm stand on the issue. Firstly nobody would deny the fact that with the changing times one needs to look at these concerns in view of the realities of the present world. Today the emphasis is on talent and merit rather than anything else. As citizens of the global world one needs to look beyond the ever so narrow distinctions of religion, caste and creed. India cannot afford to lag behind in this world of cut throat competition embracing the excuse of reservation. Secondly, the social exclusion and exploitation the backward classes faced was in the ancient Indian society. These days as far as i now we don’t live in a society where the Hindu hierarchy is divided into four Varnas namely Kshatriya, brahmin, vaishya and shoodra. There has to be no reservation for the backward classes as the society has no reservations against them, atleast this holds true of urban India.

On the other hand i feel there is a strong need for reservation for the havenots in the society. Caste is no longer an indicator of social status but money is. For people with lack of resources are seen as outcast in the society. If we want a spirit of fair competition to prevail, both the competitors X and Y need to be at the same level with the equal resources at each end.

As far as the Arjun Singh’s rhetoric or reservation goes it has just one explanation that Congress will leave no stone unturned cashing on it in view of the upcoming elections. The government’s mindless reservation policy can be assessed by the fact that after more than 50 years that reservation has been put in place there have been no efforts to evaluate its result. This is nothing but vote bank politics, Congress is pro at. We must not let petty politics and poor logic behind the caste based reservation let pass with our passive attitude. We need to ask them,On what basis is the government going ahead with the new reservation scheme for the OBCs when the result of the reservation policies in the past has not been evaluated till now?We need to question those who rule us for it we who have given them this reservation.

George.W.Bush is not the most respected president in the world but this seems justified, as he is not even the most respected president in the US. But even then, he is not expected to speak the way he does. The latest from his mindless sense of world affairs is his accusation on India and China, the two countries which according to him are responsible for increasing food prices the world over. But the point in question according to me, is not the infamous statement he made i wonder if there are people who expect him to come up with sensible statements. The point is that, with his unpopularity on an all time high, why is Mr.Bush striving so hard to emerge as a villain. I tell you, Mr.Bush you are already one.

His knowledge of world affairs is amazing so is his decision making ability. So he searched for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, when there existed none. His blatant support to Mr. Musharaff in his so called Anti terrorism tirade paid him little dividends. The result of his strategies is for all to see. While his personal fight against Saddam Husain in Iraq did little then to break the country into pieces. As to the support he meted out to Musharaff had few takers in the latter’s own country. The present scenario has Musharaff clutching on to power like his personal property as Pakistan is seen grappling with the worst ever political crisis in its history.

Now i have some news for Mr.Bush.In what has come as a blot on the credentials of his statement - The Global Food Market Report of the Food & Agricultural Organiation of the UN says that the increase in India and China’s food consumption rate has been dismal in the last one year as compared to America. In America the food consumption rate jumped from 27.76 Crore tons(2006-07) to 31.04 Crore tons(2007-08). In terms of percentage rate it translates to a substantial 11.81%. With these facts by your side Mr.Bush i think you will come up with a much accurate answer, the next time someone pops the question:Who you think is responsible for the global food crisis?

In the view of Karnataka assembly polls this month, BJP and Congress have decided to swing the polls in their favour by using the age old political gimmick of luring the voters with freebies. Karnataka voters have a lot of freebies to avail thanks to the two main political players in our country.

Consider this:Congress Election Manifesto includes-

. Providing Rs.25kg of rice at Rs.2perKg for green ration card holders.
. One colour TV set for all green card holder families.
. House for 1.5million houseless families in 5 years.
. A waiver for all Ashraya(Housing scheme for poors).
. Indira Aawas Yojna Home loans.

From BJP’s stable the freebies offered are:
. Providing Rs.25Kg rice at Rs.2 per Kg.
. Free power to farmers.
. Farm loans at 3-4% interest rate.

While it is not the first time that the parties have employed this way to garner votes. Regional parties have played this freebies card from time to time to varying effects. Even as the State Election Commission has tightened the noose on such a practice, with it having seized 30,000 watches in Chikkaballapura, 1,100 sarees in Ramangara. The onus to stop this undemocratic practice of luring voters with bribes, lies solely with the voters, and rightly so.

For in my view, it is the voter who has to decide if the freebies which is their priority or a good governance. While a short term gain may appear tempting to the common voter, it is he with whom lies the authority to choose the government. The voter has to shoulder the onerous responsibility of not undermining the worth of his vote. The voter has to be educated of his rights and responsibilities. While the election manifesto has traditionally been a tool to make big, tall promises, it is rare that a party lives upto it. Keeping the democracy alive is not just the EC’s job it is the job of a voter too. Remember in a democracy all of us have to fulfill our responsibilities to the best of our potential and the present time calls for it.

Thought for today:Voter bribery cannot make up for a good governance.
