When Ramu goes to Taj

It is often said that real inspires reel but a rare moment is when you watch something real and get a feeling: Oh its almost like reel. Ramu aka Film Director Ram Gopal Verma’s visit to Taj was one such moment. Before I elaborate on this I want to share with you people; yesterday I was watching Enough is enough a campaign launched by a prominent News Channel NDTV. One of the guests on a special show anchored by Barkha Dutt was Bachi Karkaria (Columnist,Times of India). The term she used to describe Ramu going to Taj was ‘terror tourism package’. This term caught my imagination. Was her reaction exaggerated? Certainly not.

Any justification for Mumbai CM VilasRao Deshmukh visiting Taj with his son,Ritesh Deshmukh(Bollywood actor) and Ram Gopal Verma(Bollywood director)? The only thing that comes to my mind is a line from a popular hindi song. “It happens only in India”. Such a lax attitude from the CM of a state, when its capital had been in siege for 3 days. Surely unmatched anywhere in the world. The two gentlemen in question would not have been of any help in assessing the situation there. They were useless there, their visit futile. In a remote way it was of some help. It helped the Indians to know that what kind of seriousness is attached to a terror attack of such a magnitude by our politicians.

Lets think the other way round. Ramu was there with his prospective actor to do a real life recce for his future horror flick. What would have been Mr.Vilas Rao role in this? Oh! probably he did not want to leave a chance of promoting his son. Clearly an unparalleled act of a father going that extra mile for his son.

If you think this was end of the real life drama. I am sorry there was more to come. Enter the Deputy CM,Mr.R R Patil. His statement:’Bade Bade sheharo me aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hein’.Shahrukh would have never imagined that one day his dialogue will find use in such a context. Not that i don’t expect this from our politicians. Infact this is precisely what i know they are capable of doing. Mahatma Gandhi said:If you want a change, you have to be the change.

Enough is enough, uttering these words is of no use. We demand action,we demand accountability from our politicians. Lets put an end to official apathy otherwise this will continue...
