The human rights of animals

Frankly speaking I don’t know much about human rights. As a kid every time I heard about human rights it was pertaining to J& K. But the little knowledge I have about human rights I know for a fact that human rights are about humans. The non humans and animals cannot talk about human rights simply because human rights are not about them. You got to be a human first and then u can blah blah about human rights without anyone raising an eyebrow.

Being vocal I believe is a good idea in most of the circumstances. While we may have the liberty to stay silent and aloof many a times, this liberty becomes our liability when issues which affect all of us comes confronting.

We cannot evade our responsibility. To fight terrorism is our collective responsibility as a people. But not all of us speak out when it matters the most. Kudos to Justice Arijit Pasayat for this. At a seminar on terrorism held recently in New Delhi he said “Those who violate the rights of society and have no respect for human rights cannot be human.

He further added, “We should not talk about human rights violation of terrorists because terrorists are the people who kill innocent people with AK-47 and AK-56.”

This is the only way we should view terrorists.

Terrorists are animals. No more, no less.

Starting this topic with ”the human rights of animals” and ending with considerations whether terrorists have human rights, or are indeed human, leaves me at a loss regarding what your train of thought might be — except perhaps to speculate on the meaning of the word ”human”. Regarding rights of both humans and animals, I think it is important to remember that neither are born with any rights whatsoever. Rights are privileges granted by societal groups to their members, allowing certain protections in exchange for relinquishing certain freedoms. In other words, I give up the freedom to hit you as it pleases me in exchange for protection from you hitting me. Becasue these rights are not ours simply by virtue of being born into a certain species (homo sapiens), but are granted by societies, and vary one from the other, any argument about whether animals or terrorists have ”human rights” is meaningless — because none of us do. The rights that I are because I am an American citizen, not a human. Otherwise one might argue that a lion that attacked and kileld a tourist on safari had violated that person’s ”human rights” by depriving him of life. One could also argue that American prisoners in jails have been deprived of their innate right to liberty as put forth in our Declaration of Independence by the fact of their incarceration. So, terrorists are certainly human by fact of their species — humans acting badly to be sure — but their rights are no more and no less what various societies grant them.

I don’t think they have become extinct. I think many people confuse civil rights with a human right, and both rights are being forgotten.

It is important also to remain that rights DO NOT GUARENTEE ANYTHING, but offer them. Therefore if citizens do not take there rights or lack of rights into their hands, the offer is null. We have to first accept the rights, and then also insure we maintain them..

The first is by breaking the laws which offer the civil rights: as in the above example of killing and prison. If a person chooses to commit a crime which has become a law, there punishment is a loss of certain rights, such as personal liberty...

while a convict may lose their CIVIL right to freedom, voting, etc...they HAVE NOT lost rights to their HUMAN rights, and if they have, it should be made public and corrected.

Although many consider civil rights and human rights one in the same, they are very different.

Some rights are set into play by and for actions, others such as human rights are regardless of actions. Either way, as citizens, we must be aware of our rights and strive to assure they are maintained.

This does NOT mean

I agree with Justice Arijit Pasayat when he says, ”“We should not talk about human rights violation of terrorists because terrorists are the people who kill innocent people with AK-47 and AK-56.”

Discussions on such issues create neutrality but debates create confusions.
All we do best is debate and end everything in ‘intellectual debates’ and ‘talks’, we are passive society. We talk the act.
What the society need is equilibrium and an order, not chaos. Terrorism creates tension and disharmony.
Solution: punish the terrorists for their deeds. Simple!

Every human and animal have the right to live in peace and i dont think we need a human right or animal right constitutions to tell us how to live. Because any law wriiten by humans will just be merely biased.
