On the moral horse they ride with their heads held high
Shivangi Singh , New Delhi: May 3 2008

While i love the song Mallika i hate you,i hate you,I don’t literally swear by it.But then one can’t deny the fact that Mallika Sherawat is always in the news for all the wrong reasons.Grabbing eyeballs comes naturally to her.Wherever she goes the moralists follow, whatever she does make them sit and take notice of it.There is a section of people in our society who love to do PR work free of cost and luckily or not so luckily they always have a Mallika as their clients. These people create news of everything she does. This time,it is some Kanirajan,a young Hindu Makkal Katchi activist, who has submitted a petition at the Periampat Police station,Chennai. His claim is that her dress and behaviour at an audio event hurt the sentiments of tamils. All this just because Mallika seated crosslegged on the stage where the CM was seated.Poor Mallika had just gone to the premiere to give good friend Jackie Chan company, and this brouhaha followed.Little did she know that there are some ardent fans of her who will make her steal the show when there were Kamal Hasan,Amitabh Bachchan,Jackie Chan all supertars in their right present at the do too.
I wonder if this moral brigade has some better things to do in life.God knows when will they stop following such trivial matters.I mean i don’t endorse the way, Mallika shot to fame: the infamous tale of seventeen kisses in her debut film as an actress.Neither do i liked the way she talked about everything related to sex in her interview before the release of Khwaish but i am of the view that creating fuss over everything she does makes litle sense. For people who say that the young generation is getting morally degraded by her,i have one thing to tell them if the youngters are such dumbs then perhaps not just you or me but god has to come to their recue.
In our country everybody has the freedom to wear what one feels like while this doen’t necessarily gets translated to wearing vulgar clothes it certainly means that there is a level of public decency that one must maintain. In the end publicising their acts gives them prominence.By doing this the moral brigade is creating a no. of Rakhi Sawants out of thouands of wannabees. As they say any publicity is good, whether it is good or bad.
Advice to the moral brigade: Concentrate on real issues. This is passe

What you wear depends so much on where you are, more than who you are. No need to criticize Mallika 'naked' Sherawat because she hates cloths and you cannot just recognize her in complete outfit. The actress of seventeen kisses tried hard to become the representatives of teenage girls in India but failed in doing so because Girls simply refused Mallika as their ideal woman.

People are filing complaints against Malliaka for her cross-legged dress? According to me this is the height of joblessness and double standards. You xcan see the same people going mad over Mallika's skimpy dance and sexy kissing scenes on screen. Hypocrisy....

How can one dictate terms on what she should or should not wear while going to a particular state. Is this just another way to target women? If she wants to wear even a swimsuit she can do it but it doesn't suit at such occasion. As a girl I want to say that if I was in her place, I wouldn’t have worn the clothes she did.
